NAME MEANING

BIOGRAPHY Miley Cyrus stars in Disney Channel's new live-action comedy Hannah Montana. She plays Miley Stewart, 14 year old girl leading a double life, as pop singer Hannah Montana. Gary Marsh, Disney Channel entertainment president said they chose Miley for the role of Hannah Montana because they saw a girl who has this natural ebullience and loves every minute of her life, which shows in her demeanour and performance.

Born November 23, 1992 in Nashville, Tennessee. Cyrus developed a love for the stage after watching her dad, country singer and actor Billy Ray Cyrus, perform. After appearing as an in her dad's television projects, Cyrus got her first chance to act opposite him in a recurring role on the television series. Since then, she has guest-starred on "Love Boat: The Next Wave and appeared in the Tim Burton film Big Fish.

Miley Cyrus, real name Destiny Hope but Billy Ray always called her Smiley as she always smiled and it then transformed to Miley, recently relocated to Los Angeles from Nashville with her parents, sisters Brandi and Noah and brothers Trace and Braison. She was also able to bring her shitzu dog Loco with her but her other three dogs, seven horses and three cats had to stay on Nashville under her grandmother's care. This was one of the most difficult things for Miley who enjoys braiding the horse's tails. While in California Miley bought two new puppy and named them Juicy after her favourite brand Juicy Couture and Rodeo ( it was named Minnie Pearl but renamed it as she got it on the day of the Houston Rodeo show). Rodeo is just her dog and no-one else's. Now she has three dogs in California and says its fun but also a lot of work. The Cyrus family got another Yorkie pup for Christmas 2007 which they named shooter. The family also bought a rabbit named Jack in March 2008 and Miley said in a interview her dad bought 4 birds.

Now when she is not busy with her Hannah Montana schedule she is chatting to her old friends back in Nashville and also hanging out with her co-stars and friends. She is close friends with co-stars Emily Osment and Mitchel Musso. She says even though her and Emily are complete opposite they are the best of friends. Emily even taught her to knit while Miley taught Emily to play the guitar. Emily and Miley also love to have sleepovers together. In between filming Hannah Montana, Emily, Miley and Mitchel are constantly texting each other and having three way conversations.
Miley wants to follow in her fathers footsteps in the music department by writing music, playing guitar and singing. She has already written over 100 songs that are in Journals stacked on shelves in her room and some of these will be on her Miley album due out in 2007. Her music influences are pop singers Hilary Duff, Kelly Clarkson and Ashlee Simpson. She said she would love to sing with Kelly Clarkson one day as she is her favourite singer. She also doesn't mind being compared to Hilary Duff as they are mostly the same because they both started out with hit shows on Disney channel at around the same age.

Miley's favourite sport besides shopping is dancing and cheerleading. Her and Noah used to be in the Tennessee Premiere Cheerleading Squad and many pictures of the are to be found on the web. Also ESPN continues to rebroadcast competitions which feature the squad.

Miley continues to act and sing. She went on a 54 date sell out Best Of Worlds Tour across the state and it became a million dollar 3D movie. She released three best selling albums - one Hannah Montana, one Hannah Montana plus one Miley as a double pack and one just Miley. She also continues to film season three of the Hit Show Hannah Montana. The show was also made into a Hannah Montana movie which she has just finished filming and should be released early 2009. Miley also lends her voice to the animated movie Bolt which is due in cinemas November 2008.

Miley legally changed her name from Destiny Hope to Miley Ray Cyrus in 2008 as she was getting her drivers permit and it was confusing. Late 2007 and in 2008 they have been a few Miley "scandals" such as Miley's controversial Vanity Fair photoshoot. Miley appeared on the cover with her back bare and only a bedsheet covering her front. Annie Leibovitz, the photographer and Miley discussed it and Miley agreed thinking it would be artistic. However many parents and fans were disappointed by the photos. Miley apologised and released the following statement "I took part in a photo shoot that was supposed to be 'artistic' and now, seeing the photographs and reading the story, I feel so embarrassed, I never intended for any of this to happen, and I apologize to my fans who I care so deeply about". However this and other internet "scandals" have not kept Miley down instead she just carried on and continued to do what she loves to do
